Diwali 2026 Saree from India: Order-By Dates for the USA, UK, UAE, Australia, Singapore & Canada

To have a saree from India in hand before Diwali 2026 (Dhanteras is Friday 6 November, Lakshmi Puja Sunday 8 November), order by Friday 9 October in the USA, Canada or the UAE, and by Tuesday 13 October in the UK, Australia or Singapore. Friday 16 October is the last call anywhere: it uses our entire stated delivery window with nothing left for a customs hold. The dates differ not because of distance, but because in some countries almost every saree parcel stops at customs for a bill.

Why the date depends on customs, not distance

Our shipping policy is the same everywhere: we aim to dispatch within 4–5 working days, and delivery takes another 4–5, so up to 10 working days from order to door. International orders ship on delivered-at-place terms: the courier advances any duty or import tax, then holds the parcel until you pay it. Where almost every saree is billed, that pay-and-release step needs room in the plan.

So we worked back from Monday 2 November, which keeps Diwali week free for a fall and pico or a blouse fitting, added a buffer of five working days where a customs bill is routine and three where it is not, and skipped Gandhi Jayanti (2 October) and Dussehra (20 October).

Diwali 2026 order-by dates, by country

These are India dates. India is nine and a half hours ahead of US Eastern time until 1 November, so North American buyers should order on Friday morning, not Friday night.

New Zealand and Malaysia have their own low-value lines (NZ$1,000 and RM500), explained in our New Zealand and Malaysia guides: use 13 October under the line, 9 October above it. Three things that quietly add days

• Blouse stitching. Tailoring happens before dispatch, so it sits on top of every date above. When you send measurements on WhatsApp (+91 97306 50993), ask how long your blouse will take and count back that many working days. Stitching also makes the order non-returnable and raises the free-shipping line to ₹7,000. For a fixed Diwali date, taking the unstitched blouse piece to a local tailor is often lower-risk; our blouse piece guide covers the trade-off.
• An unanswered duty notice. The courier sends a payment request before delivery, and nothing moves until it is paid. Left over a weekend, it costs two working days. Ship to the name on your ID and pay the same day.
• Splitting the family order. Two parcels mean two clearances and two chances of delay. One consolidated order clears once and, at ₹6,000 or more at checkout, ships free. In the UK, though, a combined order that crosses £135 of goods brings VAT collection and a handling fee into play.

The two-day check: what to look at the day it lands

International returns must be sent back within two days of delivery, and exchanges are not offered outside India. Open the parcel the day it arrives, in daylight, and check the saree against its listing:

• Kanjivaram border join. Turn it over where border meets body. A korvai border, woven on its own warp and interlocked by hand, shows a fine zigzag along that line; a border woven continuously with the body shows a straight transition. Neither is a defect, but it should match the description.
• Banarasi reverse. Kadhwa motifs are woven one at a time and leave a clean back; cutwork motifs are thrown across the width and clipped, leaving short cut floats.
• Zari along the folds. Most contemporary zari is tested zari: copper wire plated with silver, then gold-finished. Dark or greenish spotting on the fold lines is tarnish, not a dye fault.

Then take the saree out of the courier's plastic. Polythene traps humidity against zari, and silk left on the same folds for weeks weakens along them. Refold on fresh lines and wrap it in muslin until Dhanteras.

What shipping costs, and what currency you pay in

Shipping outside India is free on prepaid orders of ₹6,000 or more at checkout (about US$63 at the 25 September rate of roughly ₹95.8 to the dollar) and ₹1,000 below that. Checkout is in Indian rupees on both mysilklove.com and global.mysilklove.com; your card issuer converts, sometimes with a foreign-transaction fee. FAQ

Is Diwali on the same date outside India?
For most of the diaspora, yes. Lakshmi Puja is Sunday 8 November 2026 in India, and Drik Panchang's New York calendar gives the same day; puja timings vary by city. Singapore marks Deepavali on 8 November, with Monday 9 November as the public holiday.

What happens if my parcel is held at customs?
The courier contacts you with the amount due and a way to pay. Under our shipping policy, duty and local taxes are the recipient's to pay, and payment releases the parcel, so pay the day you are notified.

Can I exchange the saree if the colour looks different?
Not on an international order. You can return it within two days of delivery at your own courier cost; the refund covers the product only, less any reverse import duty charged at India's ports.

Will blouse stitching or a fall and pico delay my order?
Yes. Any tailoring we do happens before dispatch and makes the saree non-returnable, so confirm the timeline with us before you pay for it.
