MySilkLove was born from a simple but urgent belief: India's most extraordinary handloom traditions deserve to survive — and thrive — in the modern world.
We are a curated online destination for pure silk sarees, sourced directly from the master weavers of India's most celebrated weaving clusters: Kanchipuram, Varanasi, Chanderi, Pochampally, and beyond. Every saree on MySilkLove is handpicked, authenticity-verified, and comes with the weaver's story.
Why We Started MySilkLove
India's handloom weaving industry sustains over 4.3 million weavers — the second-largest rural employment sector in the country. Yet most weavers earn less than ₹300 a day. Many of the finest weaving traditions are dying because master weavers' children are choosing other professions. Meanwhile, the market is flooded with machine-made imitations that look identical to handwoven originals at a fraction of the cost — undercutting genuine artisans and confusing buyers.
We started MySilkLove to fix this. By connecting buyers directly to authentic weavers, we ensure fair prices reach the artisans, and buyers get exactly what they pay for: genuinely handwoven, pure silk sarees with verified provenance.
How We Source Our Sarees
Every saree on MySilkLove goes through a 4-step sourcing and quality process:
- Weaver partnerships: We work directly with weaver cooperatives and master weavers in Kanchipuram, Varanasi, Chanderi, Pochampally, and other traditional weaving clusters. No middlemen. Fair prices for artisans.
- Authenticity verification: Our in-house silk experts inspect every saree for fabric purity, zari quality, weave integrity, and accurate origin. We reject anything that doesn't meet our standards.
- Silk Mark & GI certification: Where applicable, we source only Silk Mark-certified sarees and can provide GI documentation on request for premium products.
- Photography and documentation: Every saree is photographed in natural light to accurately represent colour, texture, and detail. We do not use filters that alter the true appearance of the fabric.
Our Weavers
Behind every MySilkLove saree is a weaver who has spent years — often decades — mastering their craft. Many of our weaver partners come from families where the loom has been passed down for 5, 8, even 12 generations.
The Kanjivaram weavers of Kanchipuram work on pit looms in homes that double as workshops. A single bridal Kanjivaram can take 3 weeks to weave. Banarasi weavers in Varanasi's old city lanes work with draw looms to create intricate brocade patterns that take years to master. Pochampally Ikat weavers dye the thread before weaving — a complex resist-dyeing technique that creates patterns almost impossible to replicate by machine.
